Cons : Overheating continues after iOS 17.0.3
The information we received originated from social media, making it difficult to confirm its accuracy entirely. Nevertheless, a trustworthy former colleague shared one account, and the most serious report was confirmed by a source I was able to investigate. This person provided compelling evidence of their overheating problem.
He shared a photo of a thermometer he used to measure his iPhone 15 Pro Max’s temperature during overheating. The thermometer showed 42 degrees Celsius, which translates to 107.6 degrees Fahrenheit. This is remarkably close to the 107.1 F reading I obtained during my own test of the phone while fast-charging, before the iOS 17.0.3 update.
Pros & Cons : iPhone 15 Pro Max:
Tarun Vats discussed instances on X where several iPhone 15 Pro Max devices seem to be experiencing a form of image retention. These cases were reported on Reddit and Apple’s official discussion forums.
Pros : iPhone 15 Pro Max
Action button can switch between ring and silent
However, the action button comes with its own advantage – it’s customizable. You can assign various tasks to it through settings, expanding its functionality beyond just muting your device. For instance, you can set it to control your torch, activate a specific focus mode, record voice notes, launch your camera in a preferred mode, or start the magnifier.
You even have the option to disable the action button entirely or use it as a shutter key when in the camera app. Although I miss the physical mute switch, technological progress demands some trade-offs. In this case, the mute toggle has been replaced by the more versatile action button. Yet, I can’t help but think Apple could enhance it further by allowing users to assign functions to double-press and triple-press actions.
Imagine retaining the long press for silent mode while quickly launching the camera with a double press – just a suggestion for Apple to consider.
